ARP ESSER III Use of Funds Plan

 

Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER) funding was created to award subgrants to school districts and LEA to address the impact of COVID-19 has had. It continues to have an impact on elementary and secondary schools. ESSER III funding was awarded to enable Horizon Science Academy Belmont Charter School to develop a plan to safely reopen and sustain the safe operation of schools and address the impact of the COVID -19 pandemic continuously.

 

Per grant guidelines, Horizon Science Academy Belmont Charter School will use ESSER III funds to ensure we can safely operate our schools and address the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on our students. More than 20% of the grant will go towards learning loss, and the remaining funds will support the health and safety of our facilities and our school community.

 

The highest priority has been given to find the most effective way to use these funds for

addressing learning loss among students, including academic, social, emotional, and

mental health needs of all students; including students from low-income families,

students of color, English learners, children with disabilities, students experiencing

homelessness.

 

ARP ESSER III Use of Funds:

 

  • The Academy will use ESSER III funds to retain 18 positions totaling up to $1,388,703 salaries along with $298,080 benefits. 
 
  • The Academy budgeted $33,519 to provide professional development services to staff for academic, social emotional learning, instructional services to the students to address the academic impact of lost instructional time and provide home-based connectivity.
 
  • The Academy invested $61,128 for classroom tech, remote-use devices to support remote learning for all students, including disadvantaged populations.
 
  • The Academy budgeted $14,900 for repairing and improving school bathrooms to reduce risk of virus transmission and exposure to environmental health hazards.
 
  • The Academy budgeted $5048 to purchase sanitation supplies and materials to address COVID-19.
 
  • The Academy budgeted $801,941 to address the academic impact of lost instructional time through the implementation of evidence-based interventions.
